There's plenty of Photoshop tutorials out there that tell you how to do things without telling you why you're doing them. That's not how we do things. Our goal is for you to learn Photoshop, to understand how Photoshop works and why you're doing what you're doing, so you can take that knowledge and apply it to your own Photoshop creations!

Whenever possible, we try to avoid using features found only in the very latest version of Adobe Photoshop, unless the tutorial is specifically explaining how a new feature works or there's simply no better way to complete a step. The basics of Photoshop have remained the same for years, and in general, our Photoshop tutorials will work with any recent version, including Photoshop 7, Photoshop CS, Photoshop CS2, and Photoshop CS3. Many tutorials will even work with Photoshop Elements! If we do use a newer feature in one of our Photoshop tutorials, we try our best to warn you up front that you'll need a specific version of Photoshop to follow along.
